Brides so beautiful they are deadly
MAHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Kelly Grill of The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville, to discuss what's new at The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville for the 2024 Halloween Season!
What's new at The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville for 2024? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
This year we have a new theme - a wedding at Deadwoodville. The entire haunt follows the story of Kitty and Karl, a mortal (Karl) who proposes to an undead (Kitty) against her fathers wishes. All the towns people are excited to bring visitors through the town to prepare for the wedding while they make sure Karl doesn't run into Kitty's father. This years new additions include 4 musical numbers!
What are you most excited about for the 2024 Halloween Season?
I am most excited to see the audience reactions to the story line and the creative characters. There is so much to see it is impossible to take it all in in one trip through town!
What differentiates The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville from other local haunts in Massachusetts?
Our haunt is a theatrical, interactive experience. The dead "live" in Deadwoodville and are proud of their town. We have three musical numbers and characters from many different time periods who love to interact with visitors. We expect just as many laughs as screams!
How long has The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville's history?
This is our third year of creating the haunt and second year in this location. It is a partnership between the Hopkinton Center for the Arts and the MetroWest YMCA outdoor center. Proceeds from the event benefit both organizations.
What's your favorite experience since opening The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville?
My favorite experience has been seeing the characters come to life and the audiences amazement at the attention to detail as they left the haunt.

A typical tour last 45 minutes so the entire experience is about one hour.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville is? Why?
It depends on the person but I would lean into more clever and impressive oddities than scary. There is a pretty scary jump scare and the storyline leans more adult focused. However it is appropriate for 10 and up or (PG -13)
Does The Haunt: A Wedding at Deadwoodville's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
It is deep in the woods and last year the full moon shone right above us. A perfect setting!
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
It started as a fundraiser and a way to support our mission. It has turned into a year long passion project that brings our theatrical team and haunt lovers together. It is a great partnership and aligned missions. My favorite part is seeing audience reactions.
